When is this useful?
Convert distance and elapsed time into pace and average speed, or estimate a finish time at a chosen pace.
How to use
- Choose which value to find and enter the other two. Enter time as hours, minutes and seconds, and pace as minutes and seconds per km or mile. Select the split unit.
Find pace: 5:30 = 5.5 Minutes
Formula
Total time = Distance × Find pace
(s/mile) = (s/km) × 1.609344
km/h = 3600 ÷ (s/km)
10 km / 55:00 → 5:30/km ≈ 8:51/mile
3.5 km × 5:30/km = 19:15
- Enter 10 km completed in 50 minutes.
- 50 ÷ 10 gives 5:00 per km and an average speed of 12 km/h.
- You can compare another distance assuming the same pace can be sustained.
How to read the result
Stops, elevation, surface and late-race fatigue are excluded. Extending a short-distance pace to a long race can overstate performance.
Minutes / Seconds
No. It is 5.5 minutes. Decimal 5.30 minutes equals 5 minutes 18 seconds.
Cumulative splits
5 km × 5:30/km = 27:30; 3.5 km × 5:30/km = 19:15

Frequently asked questions
What is the pace for 10 km in 55 minutes?
5:30 per km, approximately 8:51 per mile.
Is 5 minutes 30 seconds equal to 5.30 minutes?
No. It is 5.5 minutes. Decimal 5.30 minutes equals 5 minutes 18 seconds.
Do the splits guarantee a finish time?
No. They are cumulative times under a constant-pace assumption, calculated from unrounded values.
Do I need weight or GPS?
No. Only distance, time and pace are used. Tables beyond 500 rows are omitted without removing the main result.
